Il Viaggiatore — A Note from the Editor

Welcome to LussoIQ.

I have travelled a great deal in my life. More countries than I can recount without pausing to think, more hotels than I care to remember, more meals that ranged from extraordinary to quietly forgettable. I have crossed continents, chased seasons, and slept in places that cost a fortune and delivered very little.

And then, somewhere along the way, I stopped moving quite so fast. I sat still long enough to notice something I had always suspected but never quite admitted to myself.

No place on earth is like Italy.

Not for the history — though the history alone would be enough. Not for the art, the architecture, the landscapes arranged by someone with an impossible eye for composition. Not even for the food, though the food alone would justify a lifetime of return visits. It is all of it together. And the people — warm, proud, unhurried, possessed of a relationship with beauty and pleasure that feels less like an attitude and more like a birthright.

I came to this conclusion slowly, then all at once. My past life no longer matters to me. Italy has a way of doing that.

LussoIQ exists because I could not find what I was looking for.

I wanted a guide that understood luxury the way I do — not as a price point, but as a standard of experience. Not chandeliers for their own sake, but a clifftop hotel in Amalfi where the saltwater pool is carved into the rock and the view does the rest. Not Michelin stars as status symbols, but a candlelit dinner in Positano where the sommelier makes a recommendation that changes the way you think about Campanian wine. Not the obvious choices endlessly repeated, but the places that reward the traveler who bothers to look a little further.

I also know that some of the best meals of my life have been in small neighborhood trattorias — no website, handwritten menu, house wine that costs almost nothing — because luxury, at its truest, is simply the right thing in the right moment.

That is what LussoIQ curates. Hotels and villas. Experiences worth planning a trip around. Restaurants, transfers, hidden corners of cities I know like old friends — Rome especially, Trastevere above all. Venice in winter. Florence in the golden hour. The villages of Emilia-Romagna where the food is quietly, stubbornly, magnificently the best in Italy. The Amalfi Coast in every season.

Every recommendation on this site has been considered. Nothing is here because someone paid for it to be here. If there is an affiliate link — and sometimes there is — it is because I would book it myself. The disclosure is always clear. The editorial is always independent.

This Journal — Il Viaggiatore, field notes from the road — is where the stories live. The days that earned their place in memory. The places that changed the way I travelled. The things nobody tells you until you have already made the mistake, and the things so good they almost hurt to share.

I hope you find something here worth booking.

Benvenuti.
