Albergo Cappello

If Casa Masoli hides and Palazzo Galletti Abbiosi announces itself gently, Albergo Cappello performs. Set inside Palazzo Bracci, a Renaissance building dating to 1468, this is the oldest of Ravenna's three stays — seven rooms, each one dressed in frescoes and chandeliers that have genuinely survived five centuries rather than been reproduced to look like they have.

Rooms
Just seven, each individually named and decorated — Amaranth Dream, Towards the Blue, Green Gold — with wood-beamed ceilings, carved details, and in several rooms, original Renaissance frescoes overhead. Round beds and tower views turn up in a few of the more theatrical rooms.

Room Pick
The Tower View room — Ravenna doesn't have many buildings tall enough to earn that name honestly, and waking up to it is worth the extra request.

Food & Drink
Ristorante Cantina Cappello handles both the restaurant and the wine bar, built around seasonal menus and a serious cellar of local, national, and international labels — locals treat the wine bar as a destination on its own, not just a hotel amenity.

The Experience
Steps from San Vitale and the Galla Placidia Mausoleum, and next to Ravenna's covered market — this is as central as the historic center gets. The building's conference rooms, including one styled after a ship's keel, hint at a past life hosting more than just overnight guests.

Worth Knowing
Only seven rooms means this books out fast in shoulder season — worth confirming dates well ahead, especially for the Tower View or a fresco room specifically.
